The joy of the kite
A pair of red kites has flown past my window and are soaring and somersaulting over the water meadow beyond, now. They are what is known as "displaying", doing aerial acrobats sometimes together sometimes separated but always in unison, and from time to time they brush wings against each other as part of their courtship ritual. They are preparing to mate. It is a wonderful, joyful sight because they look so happy. It is their time once again to create life.
It is a time for creativity and new beginnings everywhere, and not just in the world of nature. As the old order becomes more and more chaotic and clearly past its time, gifted and committed people are quietly creating plans and ideas for what will replace our obselete ways, so that the new order can come into being quickly. This year will see many changes, and the exuberance and joy of the red kites this spring is more appropriate than it ever has been.
