Guilty or Not-Guilty? The Karmic Perspective

Written by Claire Montanaro.

Many people around the world are wondering if Amanda Knox was guilty or not-guilty of the murder of Meredith Kercher, for which she has now been acquitted.

The case has been sad and sordid, with a victim largely forgotten as a person but who suffered terribly for her death, a lavish public relations exercise intended to sway public opinion, possible media manipulation, a beautiful young woman in the dock who is either a good actress or a herself a victim of injustice, and inept police work which may have denied the real victim justice.

The powerful karmic implications, for me, are stronger than anything I have seen on the news about the present story. What happened on that night of violence in Perugia was a culmination of events which occurred possibly many past lives ago in an attempt by the souls involved to rebalance and clear old karma. Whether they succeeded or not only they know.

What is clear, however, is that if Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were indeed guilty of the murder of Meredith, then the karma they have both perpetuated and accrued through their actions and subsequent lies will take many lifetimes to resolve. If, on the other hand, justice has prevailed and two innocent people now walk free, then a complex and ancient karmic entanglement finally has been released.

Guilty or not guilty, I see karma as being at the heart of this story. I hope, truly, that these three souls are now at peace.
