Animal Souls in Afghanistan
The relationship between man and animals is a special one, and it goes far deeper than many people realise.
If you have read my words before you will know of my belief in humanity’s role as guardian of the animal kingdom, the bridge between the world of spirit and the world of life on earth. On the whole we do not do our job very well, but every day there is opportunity to learn and do better. Meanwhile, each of us has not only at least one power animal, animal totem, to help us, invisibly but powerfully present, on our journey through life, but an abiding connection with an animal soul which has been a companion and friend through many shared lifetimes and experiences both physical and non-physical.I know this each time I look at the cats which have re-joined me once again for further adventures and work together. I was reminded of it again when I heard last night of the killing in Afghanistan of a young army dog handler, shot while out on patrol with his dog. The dog survived, but had a seizure shortly afterwards and died.
I believe this man and the dog in his charge had a very special relationship over many lifetimes, and without his master, the dog could not bear to live. They belonged together, and are together now as souls. It may be that, next time, the dog will return in human form for the first time (for this transition is allowed now for special animal souls), able to be with with his friend in an even more personal way. Souls come in many forms and guises, as does bravery.
