Polarisation at Home and Abroad

Polarisation seems to be endemic at the moment. The Middle East is in more turmoil than it has known perhaps for thousands of years, and the rest of the world watches, waits and yet for we onlookers life carries on as seemingly normal.

Closer to home my own life, today, is reflecting two extremes: my house is filled with builders and plumbers but I have managed to find a sanctuary in my sitting room, now my temporary office. As I sit by the window I can look out at my ponds and the big river beyond, and see the birds feeding and beginning to nest. It is a wonderful vantage point, and the noises-off are irrelevant, particularly since my visitors are bringing beauty and transformation in place of what was tired and faded, and restricted.

I am looking at the revolution unfolding before us in a similar way, as albeit dramatic and painful noises-off but necessary ones for the ultimate well-being of the region and our world. The disruption could spread to involve we who observe if the availability of oil is impacted, but if this happens then it is fitting that we too should play our part in these great events.

My building work is likely to last two weeks, neatly taking us to the next new moon. I wonder what will have happened to the world in that time?
