BP and Russia in the Karmic Sea Bed Together

It is no coincidence that, just as we are digesting the implications of the deal between BP and Russia’s Rosneft to exploit the oil and gas reserves in the Arctic, scientists are discovering the importance of our deep sea waters.

Examination of the Marianas trench in the Pacific is proving that such canyons act as carbon sinks, attracting and absorbing carbon dioxide sediment which is then broken down by bacteria to neutralise it. It is an extraordinarily efficient process, and it may well be that the explorations will find other evidence of how our seas provide a perfect system of balance and regulation. It is the activity of man, nothing else, which destabilises this natural hierarchy, and the effects on the planet as a whole, as we know, are enormous.

It is ironic, then, that just as we can and, I believe, should be awed by the power and beauty of Gaia’s ability to create perfect health for herself, and saddened by our constant selfish acts which undermine her, two giant oil companies are uniting to plunder her wealth  in an area which, everyone agrees, is very special. The irony is compounded by the risks inherent in a deal between two incompatible bedfellows, one of whom, at least, is shadowed by instability and political influence.

The karmic implications of the intents, actions and repercussions will be most interesting to observe. If the Arctic drilling goes ahead, make no mistake, the consequences will be great and the message to us all quite unequivocal. It is not too late to come to the aid of Gaia, and she needs our help just now.  What can you do?
