Standing Idly By? Or Helping the Planet…..

Written by Claire Montanaro.

I wrote yesterday about the importance of co-operating with the elements of nature rather than fighting them or abusing them, and that is not too late for this harmonising to begin.

It is easy for us to feel that, because as individuals we may love the life that comprises our planet, and because we may pursue a spiritual path, the need for a new approach does not apply to us. It does, and in some ways our responsibility is greater because of our awareness of the bigger picture: to do nothing while knowing the need is as questionable as governments felling the rain forests because they do not know better. The one act comes from passivity, the other from ignorance.

Furthermore, because everything, everywhere, is connected energetically, we too are part of the man who is taking down the trees or the woman who kills the spider which is inconveniently in her bath. By doing what we can to help our world we are helping them too. This is not the time to stand back and just observe - or even judge?

So, if nothing else, can you today just for a few moments pause to reflect on the world of nature with love and prayer for its well-being.  Don’t be silent if there is the opportunity to mention our human duty to honour and care for the Planet, and, most of all, please open your heart and send your love to all things and all men on Earth and beyond, both because you care and because you know it will heal.

Spot on again dear Claire. To paraphrase the wonderful Joseph Campbell, it is important to participate in efforts to change situations but underlying those efforts there must be an "at peace". He goes on to say; "To win a dog sled race is great. To lose is okay too".

Yours and Campbell's words are comforting and inspiring when there seem to be so many challenging situations in the world; more global than personal for many of us, as living in the previous times was no walk in the park!. It is good to be reminded that by remaining joyful, and understanding that each word, thought and action of ours contributes to, and remains in the collective energy fields that we inhabit and which unite us, that we ensure our participation in making great evolutionary strides for ourselves, for other beings, the planet, the universe, the ..........

With love and gratitude

thank you Claire, I feel really in touch with what you are saying because by some synchonicity I am reading the Prince of Wales's new book, written with Ian Snell and Tony Juniper entitled "Harmony", and I sing its praises. It has reminded me of what it really means to be in touch with nature and the planet and our caring for it, what we are doing to it and what we can do to heal it. The words have been chosen with great care and with his vast knowledge and experience of people and situations far and wide, there is a real message for us all, but his vision not yet fully recognised, I found it relegated to the furthest corner of some bookshops at Christmas. Our healing thoughts as you so eloquently put in your message, are really needed at this time.
