Messages in the Australian Floods

As it rains gently here in the mountains of Wales, my thoughts are with the people and wildlife of Queensland as they have been every day since the floods began.

Water, one day, will become a scarce and precious commodity in our world, one over which there will be international dispute and territorial claim just as the demand for oil has for decades dictated political strategy and action. Meanwhile, water will have its further power in that melting ice, rising sea levels and what comes from the sky (including solar activity) will determine in its own way where humans can live and what lands will become uninhabitable.

So, water is a key element in nature and very influential, and in water the divine, particularly, is to be found. It may be hard for Australians to see Spirit in the devastation that water has created: looking on from afar, however, I see previously parched lands being nourished, the mines reduced to silence enabling some peace for the earth spirits there, reminders for us all of the super-human power of nature, and intense bravery, dignity, charity and compassion in the many people who are coping and coming together in the true spirt of community.

As my heart goes out to all who suffer there, of whatever degree, I know there is more to these events than I can understand now, but I know too they are for a reason, to help us and to help our beautiful planet and beyond.
