Cyber Censorship close to Home
My website was blocked intermittently during yesterday, and, even when it was working, my Thought for the Day page was jammed periodically.
Indeed, I had great difficulty in putting my blog up in the first place: I could access my e-mails and other websites without any problem, but not my own. My website manager assured me there was nothing wrong with the site nor his service, so it was an interesting day.Other people writing via the internet have reported similar issues recently, particularly those who have written about China and Wikileaks, as I have done, and I presume that is why I was targeted. In the end it didn’t matter because I succeeded in the end, and if my website had gone down for days it would have been inconvenient but not disastrous. It was a good practice of Being in Acceptance!
More seriously, this is a sign of things to come. The internet is so important for business and communication that the ability to control it gives great power. Spamming as we have known it will seem as nothing compared to what may come by way of cyber manipulation, censorship and attack, and this warfare of the ethers may one day over-reach itself with significant consequences for us all.
Meanwhile, I apologise if you were unable to read my blog yesterday - it is still there (I hope!) I will continue to write what I am called to write and when, and if you cannot access it or my website in future days then please remember that it may be due to a problem created far elsewhere.
It is no coincidence that all this is happening as Mercury is retrograde.
