The Light and the Dark in Football

Written by Claire Montanaro.

So, the "era" of the World Cup has ended as the New Moon began last night.  I know little about football, but as I watched the game with others even I could see that it was, on one side in particular, hardly sportsman-like.  I was quite startled to see the ruthless determination to win - or deny victory to the Spanish team - at whatever cost to reputation or decency on the faces and in the conduct of the Dutch players, contrasting with the attempts by Spain to play with grace and integrity as well as skill.

What happened on that pitch in South Africa last night was the epitome of the ending of the old and the beginning of the new in terms of energy, spirituality and practicality.  The last earth cycle has been dominated by negativity, self-centredness, physicality and selfish desire, while the new cycle brings opportunity for inclusiveness, kindness, behaving with integrity and doing our best.  Some call it the Dark being replaced by the Light.

We saw Light and Dark at play last night -and Light won, narrowly.  Similarly, it will not be easy to anchor the New Age with its new ethos, but I believe it will happen if there is intent and goodwill.   Hopefully, the general revulsion felt by millions of onlookers at the brutality so evident last night will result in a demand that it never happens again, and in the wider world too.

A Universal Law...

The Law of No-Judgments states that judgement is a human device to compare yourself to others favourably or unfavourably, to assess yourself or another against arbitrary standards set by society.  The Universe, God, does not judge.  If you are judgmental, you will be judged back in equal measure.
