Undercurrents

A sleepy feeling is starting to come upon the world, a sense that the media is looking for interesting news stories because there are not many around, and that people are preparing for holidays.  The main issues continue to be BP and the economic situation, but, weeks on, nothing much seems to be happening to change the situation and it is hard for onlookers or pundits to get excited about them as once they did.   Even the football World Cup has until now proved - well, boring.

In many ways we are fortunate to have this respite of seeming calm for it will change, and soon.  I have a sense there could be a few dramas in the next couple of months which will wake us all up to a new realism, which will be excellent.  We have been sleep-walking for too long.  Meanwhile, beneath the surface of the calm seas strong under-currents are starting to make waves... watch and wait.
