Cumbria yesterday
There can be few people in Britain, at least, who were not touched or shocked by the killings in Cumbria yesterday, on a beautiful summer's day in an idyllic rural idyll. It is a stark reminder of the uncertainty of life and of human nature.
You who read this know, I am sure, that everyone who died or who was injured, or who was in some way involved, was in that place at that time for a reason to do with their soul journey and learning. That higher understanding does not prevent us from feeling human compassion and sadness for those who are left to grieve - indeed, it encourages it.
Additional to these caring emotions, please do not judge the killer, himself a victim also and deserving of compassion too. Many people now are asking - "Why?" In the end it does not matter why he did it, and we will never know the soul and karmic reasons which precipitated these events for every man and woman who died or who was injured.
Meanwhile, as another magnificent day begins, I am giving thanks that I am here to appreciate it, and I am taking nothing for granted.
