Making haste slowly
One of my relatives is in hospital at the moment, hopefully not for much longer. She has been quite poorly at times, however, and it has been necessary to keep closely in touch with the different points of contact there for some days.
It has been remarkable (or perhaps not so!) that almost every conversation I have had about the situation has been contradicted almost within minutes, and it has been a see-saw of concern one moment and optimism the next. While this was going on, It did not escape my attention that it was occurring just as I am teaching, on the New Consciousness Foundation Course, about issues of discernment.
Through this experience I have been reminded once again of the need to be objective, as far as we can, about what we hear indirectly through second or third parties because so much can get distorted or be misleading. So, in this case I am checking what I am being told for its accuracy before taking action which could be premature or unnecessary. It may take a little more time, but it is saving time and certainly is more beneficial in the end.
"Festina lente" as they say.
