Gaia

As the broken pipe in the Gulf of Mexico contintinues to pump out oil into the seas, I see what is happening as Gaia having one of her veins cut, and her blood seeping out of her body.   Usually, when incisions are made into her, as has happened so many times, it is done without her permission and the outflow is taken, controlled and used by people with strong vested interests.  This time it is different, and Gaia herself, with the help of all the elements, is deciding what will happen.  Man is helpless and all the technology in the world cannot deal with the problem.

I believe that the accident was, as oil experts say, almost impossible to happen, but that it was time for the world to be reminded both about the importance of our environment and the dangers of over-reliance on oil.   It may be that another incident will occur to reinforce the message, in case complacency returns.

The implications for the future are enormous. This will alter forever humanity's views on how energy resources are obtained, and what these resources should be.  There will be financial implications also which could be far-reaching.  Hopefully, too, envionmental considerations will have more prominence, deservedly so.

While I am saddened by the effects of the leaks on the world of nature, I can see, a little, why and how they came about.  Gaia is too strong for this to be anything but a temporary hurt and she will staunch the bleeding when she is ready.   While she teaches us, again, I will continue to send my light and love to her, for her to use them as she sees fit.
