Change?
All the signs of spring are here. I saw our first swallow last week, the ponds are full of frog spawn and toad ropes, and the kites and ravens are sitting on their eggs. However, it is damp and cold here on the west (and north) side of Britain, though I know it is more clement to the east and in many parts of Europe.
The weather divide is interesting and may be symbolic of what is to come. There is talk of southern parts becoming hotter and drier than experienced before in this cycle, and western (and northern) parts becoming among the the most temperate and fertile places on earth. I believe there is truth in this, but that it will come about more gradually than some people say.
The symbolism could be said to go deeper even than this, representing the fragmentation that is occurring in cultures and societies, the winds of change sweeping through. Of course, pragmatically we could say that weather patterns have always been variable and this is nothing new. However, it is my belief that everything around us has a message, a meaning which is there to guide or alert us, remind us perhaps of what we may wish to consider.
Today, as I look and feel around me, the word "change" keeps coming to me - and not because an election is about to be called in Britain. It is something far more fundamental than that. What word come to you, as you look at what is around you?
