Creating Space (continued)

James and Simon have been here for two days, and their work is done, for now.  Four larches and a leylandii have come down, and it was the right course of action to take.  The lime tree that was being distorted and squashed is standing proud, drinking in the light and air now available to it, and the view across the valley is spectacular.   Owls are able to fly freely to their hunting ground now, and, as I write, the orchard is, for the first time, bathed in sunlight.

The trees went willingly and graciously, thankfully in full agreement with the plan.  The leaves will become compost, feeding new life, and the wood will provide warmth for us and also a refuge for creatures large and small as it lies, for now, where it fell.

The job itself was easy because it was done so harmoniously, with the agreement of all concerned - a good reminder of the importance of intent, simplicity and co-operation.
